ゆく河の流れは絶えずして、しかももとの水にあらず。
よどみに浮かぶうたかたは、かつ消えかつ結びて、久しくとどまりたるためしなし。
世の中にある人とすみかと、またかくのごとし。

The flow of the river is ceaseless, yet the water is never the same.
The bubbles floating in the eddies vanish and form anew, never lingering
for long.
So it is with the people of this world and their dwellings.
